Wow-- I am blown away by Layla's. Delicious Greek food for less than $7? Believe it! You can get a mountainous gyro or kifteh sandwich for $5.25 which comes out to around $7 after tax/tip. Friendly service-- they are usually pretty busy, especially around lunchtime on weekends. It's obvious why: they serve delicious food... Just be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table-- nothing major though. The kifteh has plenty of flavor, and if you just want to sample small items (kifteh, kibbeh, falafel, pita, hummus)-- they make it affordable and easy to do so between 75 cents and $3. It makes it fun to get a big sampler and split with several folks.

Stopped at Layla's for take-out on 6/22/15. Love Greek food and wanted to try someplace different - plus the reviews were good. Whoa - the small restaurant is run-down and dingy. Even the grills in the kitchen have charred grease all the way to the ceilings! They need to fully deep-clean and paint the entire place...I was glad I was carrying out and not eating there.......ecch. We ordered a Gyro sandwich and a Chicken/Gyro sandwich. The food was average. I did like that the pita bread was toasted, but neither the gyro meat or the chicken was overly tender - bordering on a little tough. I would rate Little Greek on Cantrell and Leo's in Hillcrest above this. To be honest, we were so turned off by the grungy atmosphere it was hard to focus on the food. Oh, and two employees were sitting at the small picnic table right outside the front door SMOKING!!!....now that's appetizing!

Others have pointed out the beautiful Jordanian waitress, who sadly was not on duty when I dropped by here for lunch last week. Regardless, this hole in the strip mall place gets five stars for it's crazy low prices and home made dishes. Our baba ganoush was delish, especially on the fresh made pita. Lentil soup and falafel sandwich were also winners. If I lived in LR I'd be here every week. When Miss Jordan was working, of course.

The 5 stars are based purely on the quality of the food. The restaurant was a little tight in that our 7 top felt a little like we were intruding on other guests table space. Parking was ample. The staff were friendly, fast, and available when needed. To the 5 stars: Every plate of food was hulking mass of pastas, meats, and rice. I asked the proprietor to recommend something and I had the Yogurt Plate based on his advice. It was a euphoric experience. It was gyro meat over rice smothered in a yogurt broth with a side of extra broth. I don't like yogurt and I am not a fan of broth as a meal item but the yogurt broth was indescribably good. The pasta plate that a few of my friends had was again a mountain of food. Gyro meat over fettuccine like pasta covered in that divine yogurt broth. They, like myself, ate quite a bit more than the body thought capable. I had neither the will or physical ability to try the Baklava but the two that were able to carry I said that it was very good. If this yogurt broth exists at other Mediterranean restaurants I hate that I have overlooked it all these years. I will be on the lookout for it from now on. Well done!

I went here with my daughter today. We had plans to go to Pita Pit but my daughter was craving a Gyro sandwich so she googled it and found this place! We were amazed by how good the food is and this is now our new favorite restaurant. There wasn't a big crowd in the restaurant and its a shame because the food is so amazing and needs to be shared more. The owner was so friendly and generous, he helped us figure out what to eat. His recommendation was amazing and we were stuffed. I can't wait to take my husband and my other two daughters here when I can! As I like to always say, don't judge a book by its cover. Just because this place isn't fancy, doesn't mean anything about the quality of the food!

I love Layla's! It is always busy and bustling, so if you plan to come for lunch, be there when they open. Every single thing on the menu is great!! Some favorites include the hummus, baba ghannouj or the falafel platter for appetizers. I also love the taziki and I always ask for extra. The calzones are so good! The pasta plate and combo plate are two of the best and the portions are sizeable! That said, the parking lot is tiny and shared, the restaurant is about half kitchen and half seating. The hole in the wall restaurants are always the best anyway... It's not your quiet dinner spot. Opt for Layla's take out and bring it home to enjoy instead!

Really good spot. Went here with my sister and the to go foot traffic was insane. Recently moved to LR from NY. Impressed by the freshness of everything.

This is my second time here. The Gyro was great. I was given so much meat I could've made a second gyro. The rice was ok. Pretty basic but I didn't want fries.

This is one of the best restaurants in Little Rock. Nothing fancy and the atmosphere is nothing to get excited about. They make up for it with reasonably good service (no complaints) and amazing food. This place is all about the food - try the pizzas, calzone, or gyros. My wife thinks the goat is amazing also. I really cannot recommend this place enough and it is very inexpensive.

  • Sara B.

Ok - I got my Greek Chicken Calzone to go. I called and you just gotta love it when the owner/chef answers and takes your order. "Ok- I make for you - be ready 10 minutes." Click- I didn't give him my name! Hahaha - and it was ready and it was awesome! I should have got some hummus. I saw it on people's plates when I picked up my food. All the food is authentic and made fresh. The chicken with perfect. I saw the Baklava in the little glass dessert pedestal - but did not partake. Perhaps next time I will when I bring a friend to indulge in Greek goodness with me. I know people comment in a negative aspect for the "dingy and grunginess" of the place.... but have you watched Diners, Drive-ins and Dives?... it's just the way it is. If you want super-duper-duper hospital sterile environment - than why are even on Yelp??? Just go to chain restaurants and don't gripe about Layla's Market. And Layla... Please do NOT "paint entire place."

When my wife and I first moved to Little Rock we tried several of the "other" Mediterranean places in the area but Layla's is hands down the best. My wife and I both have tried just about everything that the menu has to offer and have yet to be disappointed. With a friendly staff and great food you can never go wrong.

I worked here many, MANY years ago, and to this day I still come back every time I get the chance. It is that good. Great people, fantastic food! I always order the chicken shawarma sandwich which is what I just picked up for dinner today. Chicken was juicy and marinated perfectly, as always. Don't forget to try their baklava, they use pistachios in it which is different from others I've tried in a very good way. Take it from someone who's been on the inside and still thinks this place is the best!

Not even close to fresh or flavorful. Spices are highly recommended. The store was dirty and no one person was in charge.

Great, authentic "hole-in-the-wall" place to get awesome Mediterranean food. Will definitely be back for more.

I live two hours away and only come to Little Rock occasionally. I've had lunch at Layla's about eight times and without fail the food is delicious. Ask for the za'atar bread and hummus for an appetizer. It is heavenly!Yesterday, I had the sautéed spinach salad with gyro meat. The portion was generous enough to make two meals. The bottom layer of lettuce was crisp and fresh. The layer of sautéed spinach and mushrooms was perfectly seasoned. The gyro meat was warm and moist. The pita points were fresh. Service was prompt and friendly. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Considering the portion size, the price was very reasonable. On other occasions I've had the falafel plate which has also been consistently good. The baklava was awesome.

Layla's is my absolute FAVORITE Mediterranean restaurant. The food is authentic and very flavorful, the folks running the place are super nice and the portions are generous.

I actually came here as a backup after finding out that my first choice was closed. I'm glad I found this place because it was a great choice! I arrived just about 30 minutes before they closed and I still received wonderful service and food. I had the hummus plate and the Greek calzone with gyro meat, which I am normally not crazy about, but as it seemed to be a bit of a specialty here, so I went with it. The hummus was really good, and the calzone crust was super thin, which I loved because I didn't get full on just the crust. There was plenty of filling with the gyro meat, feta, mozzarella, and salad. The tzatziki was awesome! Great flavor and not watery at all. Despite how late I was, they were very gracious and didn't rush me at all. Excellent food, excellent service!

Some damn good mediterranean food, with a wonderful selection, friendly service, and very reasonable prices, with pretty generous portions. I can't wait to return. Came here for lunch at noon on a Sunday, and it was relatively quiet, though much more full an hour or so later when we went to leave. We had 2, if not 3, people waiting on us, so no lack of attention, which was nice. Got a nice table near the window and had a relaxing meal. Many great options, and we settled on: - hummus and pita: great hummus, with a nice balance of creaminess, and not too oily either. - baba ghanoush: very different from what I'm used to, and I think a new favorite for me. I'm used to baba ghanoush being relatively watery and oily, with a texture like you'd expect from mashed eggplant somewhat. However, this was much more smooth, and even a bit creamy, with a very hummus-like consistency. Maybe tahini or something else added in, I'm not sure. Commented on this to an Israeli friend, who said that's how her dad makes it, so this may indeed be very authentic. In either case though, I was in love. - sauteed spinach salad: huge salad, with a mix of romaine lettuce, sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and a few other veggies. Was craving some greens and got just what I wanted. Very nice combination too, and went wonderfully with a little bit of hummus and baba ghanoush mixed in. - Greek salad with chicken: for my mom mostly, though I had some as well. also a very big portion. a fairly typical Greek salad, the chicken aside (optionally added), and good, but not much to say here. - goat plate: was tempted by shwarma and kebabs but couldn't say no to this, as hadn't had goat in quite a while, and I was well-rewarded. a sizeable plate of chunks of goat, much of it on the bone, which is fine by me. Some of it pretty fatty too, but such is goat I suppose. Amazingly tender, and very flavorful. Marinated in a sauce perhaps? Came with a little dish of some sauce, which was perhaps the marinade. By default comes with rice and pita, but substituted this for some sauteed veggies (squash, zucchini, and bell peppers - yum!), and then came with another salad, this one even fairly big for it being a side salad. simpler and a bit lighter, somewhat a Greek salad minus the olives and feta. Was definitely in love here. I went into this pretty starving, and still ended up saving a whole meal's worth of food for later. And at $40 for this feast plus one extra meal, I'm eager to return.

I came here over a month ago and forgot to put in reviews. I promised the owner I would and the reason why I promised him- the world needs to know that the food here is to die for!! We got gyros- each one if us got the platter meal and we were shocked at how much meat we got. You will get plenty of lamb- if you are not hungry- I suggest getting just the gyro sandwich because they really fill you up! My son had a small pizza and he loved it. We were traveling across the United States and in the mood for Mediterranean food. This place was 9 miles off course from our driving- folks, let me tell you- this was the best 9 miles out of our way for the great dinner with great prices. 9 miles is about ten minutes. Worth it- you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!!!

Was highly recommended to come here by a local instructor. Turns out he was right - very great, local, Mediterranean food and you can tell it was good as many were coming in and out picking up orders or bringing their friends in as a group. We got there as soon as it opened and that worked well. I ordered the Yogurt Plate, very big portion of meat, rice, lettuce, and bowl of additional yogurt sauce. The yogurt sauce was great and it gave more meaning to the meat then just gyro alone. I left happy and quite full!

Years have passed since my last visit to Little Rock, and more options in the field have opened up, so here we go again to Layla's for dinner! This time around, we had the baba ganouj to start, and the goat plate and the yogurt plate for our meals. The good: the goat was lovely and tender and slipping off the bones, and my dining partner thoroughly enjoyed his yogurt plate. But everything is so bland. Amazingly well cooked but so timid with the spicing. You can taste the eggplant in the baba ganouj if you concentrate but there's just nothing else there. It sounds awful but I enjoy the baba ganouj taken from my local grocery store's olive bar more, although it lacks the charming soft warm pita Layla's serves. The goat would be so much more amazing if they'd bumped up their spices a notch or five. Please, I just want to love you!

Love Layla's! Could eat there once a week (and usually do.) The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but service and food always makes up for it. We've never had any sort of wait, everything comes out right away. For a light lunch I get the falafel plate and it is perfect. The Mubarak plate is more than enough for two people for dinner and it gives you a taste of everything. They also do take out and it never takes more than 10 minutes. Highly recommend.

Best Greek food I have ever eaten. I don't like Greek food much but after this place I will go again. Everything was delicious. We ordered a goat plate and chicken. Came with basmati rice, salad, pita bread and grilled vegetables. Absolutely yum....

We stopped by here for lunch on our way home from Texarkana. We ended up here because our usual go-to restaurant was closed. Fortunately, we found this place on Yelp and had some of the best Mediterranean food that we've ever had. My wife had the Greek calzone with chicken, and I had the combo platter with beef and chicken gyro. We're very picky with Mediterranean food since we live near the Greektown neighborhood in Baltimore, but this place exceeded our expectations. And it was a bargain compared to our hometown- $22 for two entrees and two iced teas. We will be sure to stop again the next time we're in Little Rock.

I was in Little Rock for the day. I usually let my customers choose where we go to eat. It didn't look like much - it is the end of a strip mall and the interior was as plain as the outside, but Holy Cow - I found the best Greek food in Arkansas! (it says so on the wall - voted as such in 2010). Service was friendly, fun and awesome. Lots of refills on drinks and helpful suggestion to get extra pita bread when we got the amazing, awesome hummus. I know, you are saying "how hard is it to make hummus?!?" It's not, but this place uses extra herbs and spices to make their extra yummy. I ordered a gyro salad, which was a huge plate of chopped lettuce, lightly coated in greek dressing (I actually asked if it was already on there) covered in pita and gyro meat. When I say COVERED, I could not even finish this monstrosity. There are three other locations - which shows just how successful they have been. I will definitely be going back when I am in the LIT.

The server from Jordan is beautiful, and also the food is really good. The goat platter was perfect. Super tender and heavenly seasoned. The gyro meat was also delicious, some of the best I've had. The Turkish coffee was delightful. Also, the server was incredibly attractive. 10/10.

Great service to start with. Fast, friendly, and the manager was actually there interacting with customers. The food is great. I have not had a gyro in years and I ordered a gyro plate. The sauce they serve with it is delectable. The hot tea is very tasty also, I'll probably go back just for that tomorrow. Defiantly can't wait to come back to little rock and take my husband, family and friends there!

I was excited to try this place after reading your yelp reviews. I ordered the hummus and gyro salad. The hummus was good, nothing to complain about. I've had better pita bread, but nothing was terrible about it. It didn't seem like they give you very much pita with the hummus, so if you're sharing, ask for more! The gyro meat was really good, but I wish there was more lemon in my salad. Not bad though! I loved the tzatziki sauce.

  • Anthony A.

Delicious. Fresh lettuce in the Greek salad and light on the dressing so it's not overpowering. Hummus dip and gyro were tasty. A must try if in the area or driving by.

  • Robert G.

I love Greek and Lebanese both of which were common in my hometown but seem less prevalent in Austin, Tx. Thankfully this place was around the corner and I was very happy with my meal and the service. The hummus appetizer was great and there's something special about chickpeas served this way, a taste of home..mideast style. The gyros plate with pickled onions was divine. If I head back into Little Rock I will definitely eat here again. Always nice waitstaff who were prompt but not looming.

Disappointing quality of food. Tabouli was not fresh without real flavors. Hummus was made out of cans. Chicken was ok but gyro not so much.

  • Kristi C.

Gyro Pizza (i like adding tomatoes) is yummo. Great Humman ask for extra pita bread. The gyro sandwhiches are really good. Small dining area. The baklava is awsome but tiny piece so do even think about sharing. Everyone needs their own slice or two.

Ive gone several times. Sometimes it is amazing and other times I just want to leave. The last time I had a goat plate, which was interesting. The meat was good, the rice was ok. The salad was TERRIBLE. watery and limp. Just unappetizing. The calazones look great tho. Very small dining and it gets crowded

Since moving to Arkansas a few months ago I had been disappointed by the restaraunts I had visited. I caught wind of Layla's market on yelp and decided to try it out. This place is amazing. The hummus was great, the gyros were to die for, and it truly is a hole-in-the-wall gem. Five stars guys, great staff, great food!

Quiet and family friendly spot that you can easily miss if you are not paying attention. Small place with simple decor but good food at a good price. We had the lamb cubes with sauteed veggies over rice, and also gyros. Both very tasty.

Disappointed. Frozen and deli items served. I dined here for a late lunch based on the reviews I went a little out if my way on a trip from Memphis to South Texas. I attempted to order the spanikopita plate for an appetizer, but was told it's frozen & will likely come out after my entree. If I wanted frozen spanikopita I would buy it from the grocery store. I settled on a dozen stuffed grape leaves (domates not on the menu). I was told that they were stuffed with meat & rice (as I've had in a finer Greek Restaurant) and that they sell out quick. What I was served was a plate of cold rice stuffed grape leaves that I'm sure came from the olive bar of a supermarket. I had to ask for tzatziki sauce which I'm sure was made of sour cream and cucumber only vs. Greek yogurt, cucumber and other herbs. The good news is the meat on my gyro and the pita bread were good, but the gyro lacked veggies and a good tzatziki sauce. Additionally, the salad my mom ordered looked like leftover shredded taco lettuce and diced tomatoes and it had a little lemon squeezed on it. Please gets some real Greeks in your kitchen to show your staff how it's done.

Great food! Prices are good for the amount of food you get. They can be a little slow at times, but usually not too bad. You can order for take out. Try the Turkish coffee, it's worth it.

The food was great. I also found it neat that you could purchase meat from the back. They could use some maintenance as the tiles needed to be replaced and the floor needed to be swept.

  • James H.

Food's pretty good but seroiusly doesn't live up to that 4.5 star rating.. YOu can get a hummus + dip, gyro plate, AND pizza for $20 bucks here. Where else can you find such a bargain?! It's a little run down and doesn't seem too clean.. but it definitely does the job and I would come back.

This is my favorite restaurant in Little Rock. The food comes out of a tiny little kitchen with about three cooks inside and it is incredibly delicious. The best thing on the menu is their Yogurt Plate- you can get gyro meat or chicken (or both) and it comes with this amazing buttery tangy sauce. The tzasiki sauce is also very good. The service is always friendly and quick. You're missing out if you don't eat here.

I still love Layla's, and decided they really deserve a 5 star rating! The food is good for my soul. Delicious, inexpensive, and authentic! Everyone I have taken to Layla's has throughly enjoyed their meals as well. Be sure to try the Falafel platter- it won't disappoint! The calzones, pizzas, and gyros are just as delicious.

  • Alex T.

Layla's is the best bet for Mediterranean food that I've found in Little Rock so far. While it leaves a bit to be desired in some areas - their hummus is pretty mediocre, for example - some of the dishes are really outstanding. I particularly enjoy their chicken saab (one of the specials) and the yazoo pizza. The falafel is also quite good. Overall, the food here is well above average with very few "meh" options. As one of the other reviews noted, Layla's can be a great bang for your buck. The pizzas are particularly cheap since they easily make 2 meals and cost around $6. Some of the dishes may sound expensive, but when you see the mountain of meat that comes with your gyro platter, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I prefer the food here to that at Istanbul and at Taziki's, except for select dishes. Layla's is also leagues ahead of Leo's, though that isn't saying much.

Mumtaz! Best Mediterranean restaurant in Little Rock. The gyro is the standard order and always satisfying. The Mubarak plate has samples of all their best items. The hummus could use some improvements.

My sister and brother-in-law was in town. After a few hours of driving around and showing them my favorite spots in the city, my sister said she was craving a Mediterranean burger with hummus and sprouts. Layla's Market immediately popped into my head. Although there's no bean sprouts in her burger, it still looked very yummy. This time I got the Gyro platter. Enough pita to make 1 gyro, then enough gyro meat to share with everyone else. It was very delicious. My brother got some kinda wrap. We're asian and a bit lactose in tolerant. So he had to scrape off a lot of the yogurt sauce. I also noticed there were some kids in the corner. They were enjoying some calzones. So cute! I miss the sweet waitress lady from our first visit.

I cannot believe there aren't more reviews for this GEM of a place. It looks like a hole in the wall.... but you will soon discover the second the owner personally greets you, and the intense flavor of delicious greek food hit your palette... that looks can be deceiving. The price is ridiculously low, especially for what you are getting... and you will soon regret every chain restaurant you have ever eaten at and wonder why you have ever spent more money there than here. RUN. do not walk, to this family-owned jewel. The Schwarma chicken is to die... and the Greek Pizza will satiate you and leave you with left overs to take home and enjoy later. BEST EATS we have had in Little Rock so far!

  • Christopher M.

Layla's does not deserve its plethora of five stars, but it does have its strong points. I have been a number of times now, and been disappointed almost as much as I have been pleased. The other Yelp-reviewers are right about one thing, Layla's does give you great value. A gyros plate is unfinishable for ten bucks, and a simple $5 gyro sandwich is easily filling. The warm marinated bean salad is outstanding, a total surprise that had a bright citrus flavor. Hummus is fine, even pleasant, but not mind-warping like at Taziki's on Cantrell. Layla's makes the third best hummus of Little Rock Greek restaurants. Gyros, as mentioned, is plentiful. It is appropriately seasoned, and served with the appropriate garnishes, it is...an expected/neutral quality of food. Chicken shwarma, usually a favorite of mine, was genuinely bad. Over-braised and dry, it reminded me more of leftovers than a house-specialty. Not something I will attempt to slog through again at Layla's. I may find my way back, and the level of Mediterranean food in LR is pretty weak anyway, but I don't know, Layla's is "fine." They get four stars instead of three for being smart enough to hire Mexican cooks.

    (4)
  • El T.

The hummus is only okay and the falafel is dreadful. The shwarma was very boring and very greasy. I am not sure where the got the idea for this dive. I am disappointed. Be careful, this place is tiny.

    (2)
  • Todd B.

Very small but great gyros and the gyro pizza is amazing! I am a tough gyro critic, having had them since I was a small child, but Layla's has one of the best ones anywhere in the country. I like to order one without onions and to add feta. Simply amazing. Also, the Greek pizza is wonderful. Give it a try!

  • Tim H.

The best. That's all I can say. The food is unbelievable. It is not fine dining, but I will bring clients from time to time because it's local and you just can't beat the food. If you want a nicer atmosphere, the Ranch location is newer but run by the same family so it's consistent. The owner and staff are extremely nice. You can run into times where it's very busy and only one or two staff members running tables, but the owner will jump in to help. Every dish is made to order - and there's no microwave on site. All fresh on the stovetop. And the flavor of every dish is just unreal. There's no place in town like it. Just go. You won't be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Jessica C.

Service was good and fast. Pita bread was excellent! BUT the chicken sandwich gyro was less than average. The chicken was very watery. By the time I was done eating my fries were swimming in a basket of chicken juice. It was very messy. Tried this place once but I probably won't go back.

    (2)
  • Sam K.

I've been to Layla's a few times since I moved here late last year. I've had some Mediterranean food while I was in Fayetteville, but this place beats any place there. The gyros were very tasty and the unique types of pizzas they offer are all tasty as well. The house hot sauce is a must for the gyros and the pizzas. I will continue going to this place to fill my Mediterranean food needs and to try all the other dishes they offer.

  • Chris F.

I'm not sure I can give this place much more praise than has already been heaped upon it. It's a cozy local place with some of the best food in town. I'm not sure how mediterranean food and pizza go together, but they've got it figured out. The hummus is delicious, the meat is delicious, the pizza is delicious, and it's very fairly priced. Do yourself a favor and get some balaclava when you check out.

Our family of 5 stopped in for dinner. We ordered the triple meat pizza, the lamb plate and the mubarak plate as well as the falafel platter and lentil soup. The food came out quickly, nice and hot. The falafel were very good; hot and crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The tzatiki was good as well as the hummus. The lamb and kifte kababa were very good. The chicken had a mild spiciness. The gyro is your standard gyro meat. The pizza was average; they need to start out with a better base pizza. Lentil soup was good with a squeeze of lemon. Overall we enjoyed our meal although portions are a bit small. They advertise as halal.

Teeny place, quick service, great hummus. I would come back but the cramped quarters keep this from being a go-to spot for me.

Love this place. I usually order the Mubarak plate for two main reasons. First, it's a ton of food, and second, it tastes great. Service is usually prompt, even though I go during peak lunch hours.

Would never go back. Food not good and very dirty. We sat next to food storage room and it smelled really bad.

Food was good, received more than was expected (I got the gyro) the only drawback, after having eaten in both Bahrain and the UAE, was the tzatziki it was made with sour cream instead of yogurt as it is traditionally made.

Just had to add my praise to all the others here. For an inexpensive, mediteranean food fix with great flavor, you just can't beat Layla's in Little Rock. There is a similar joint in the Public Market downtown, but it is really not that accessible or comfortable, nor the staff as personable. I've taken at least a dozen friends to Layla's resulting in high praise and their taking their own newbies to Layla's. The one exception to this is a friend who doesn't like anything that isn't steak - and I should have known better ; ) Personal favorites: Veggie Platter Yogurt plate with Gyro Meat - kind of like Stroganoff only AMAZING with the gyro meat and basmati rice Mubarak Platter (to share) Gyro Calzone with marinara and taziki Greek Hamburger w/fries and taziki Gyro Pizza (I don't care for the chicken Shawarma unless it has yogurt sauce on it cuz its dry. The ckicken kifta too is lacking - for flavor, texture and authenticity - the beef kifta is the way to go) Not a fancy place. Flourescent lighting, not the cleanest atmosphere nor the prettiest. It's just great food at a great price made by super nice, friendly people. Cheers

I had a gyro plate because it was my first time, had to try the meat to see if I was coming back. It's not the greatest I've tried, but it wasn't bad and the servings were generous. The place wasn't to shabby and it kind of gave an aura of a very local and somewhat ethnic restaurant. I loved their price and I'm probably going back even though it's a bit far from where I live. The Jordanian guy who took our order was very polite as well.

I just wanted to add a note to my previous review. Layla's offers Turkish coffee! My friend and I went for a late lunch recently, and when I asked for coffee (I was getting a headache, and caffeine always zaps it), the waiter said they had only Turkish coffee. I was delighted, and we both ordered some. I hadn't had any of this wonderful concoction since I was in Bosnia in 2005, and my husband and I sat outside in the cafe near the central mosque and sipped our Bosnian coffee. This tasted just as good and took me back to such a delightful experience. I'm ordering it every time I go in there from now on!

Food is pretty good. To bad the restaurant is so dirty and just kind of sticky which isn't a good thing. Or my rating would have been higher.

Layla's is easily the best value for Mediterranean food in Little Rock. It's probably not the very best, but it's solidly dependable and well-priced. Taziki's is similar, but with a different ambience entirely. In my opinion, Taziki's is about 10% better, but 15% more expensive, or something like that.

Two words: yum-my! Place is unassuming - little strip mall space, nothing fancy. Service was super-friendly - clearly family-owned (!). Started with the hummus - super tasty. Had the sampler plate - salad, four different kinds of meat, each with unique flavor, all very fresh. And reasonably priced to boot!

Go to Layla's. Eat a yogurt plate with gyro. Repeat this process at least once a week for the rest of your life.

Awesome as usual! Been coming here for several years and the food and service has always been fantastic. My wife and I usually split the combo plate (chicken schwarma and gyros) as they give you so much food. We also get the baba ganoush to start. Never been disappointed here.

Love the combo plate with Gyros meat and chicken swarma. My wife love the goat plate.

After trying numerous other Mediterranean style restaurants throughout the Little Rock area, and feeling like they came up short in quality and flavor, my wife and I decided to give Layla's a try. As soon as we tasted the food, we wondered how we could have waited this long! Finally, quality Mediterranean cuisine at an affordable price. The Gyros sandwich was fantastic. Generous portions of juicy and flavor packed slices of beef and lamb with tangy Tzatziki and sliced onions. The Falafel Platter was also surprisingly delicious. We enjoyed the Hummus and Chick-pea Croquettes. A wonderful Mediterranean restaurant in Little Rock. We will be back.

Was a recommended restaurant in my budget, so I found it. It's definitely a hole in the wall (in a strip mall), and I got takeout instead of eating in the very busy (and full) dining room at 8pm on a Friday night. I was asked by at least three staff members if they could help me, and it seemed like they were always running around to help customers. I got the Mubarak plate (a variety of meats - chicken, kebab meat, another type of meat, and a meat pie type thing), which were all great. Pita was soft and warm. Definitely enough for two, and at about $13 was reasonably priced. Is it the best Middle Eastern food I've ever had in my life, probably not. But the service was great, prices were great, and the food was great. A solid 4 stars.

Moved into town from LA and I was relieved to finally find a place that was worth the drive. The Greek Pizza is my favorite. I have been looking for a decent white pizza like Big Mamma's and Papa's in LA and theirs hits the spot! The Gyros taste more tradtional than Taziki's in my opinion.

I went here for lunch today, my second experience at Layla's. The facilities. spare, functional, on the near side of hole-in-the-wall. The food. The first time we went, we had the gyros pizza. we thoroughly enjoyed it. the crust was nice, the toppings were good and the right amount. the hummus. probably the best hummus in town. I only ask for it at one other place in town. earthy, bright, garlicy, and very very smooth. today I had the yogurt plate. which is a combo with side salad (meh), shawarma chicken (delicate, but nice), rice (meh), and a yogurt broth. I'm not sure what was really in the yogurt broth, it seemed to me almost like a vegetable curry from NW India. I enjoyed it and would order it again. I'm sure we'll be back many times, convenient, good price/value, quick, tasty.

The most amazing food for a great price. The best hummus in town is here and you can get as many extra pitas that you desire for only an extra 50 cents each!

This place is awesome. Apparently everyone thinks so; tables filled as fast as they could be cleared. Rachel and I shared a falafel plate and a roasted garlic and spinach pizza. The hummus was as good as I've had anywhere and the falafel, though a bit overcooked, was yummy as well. Great service, awesome food!

They are the perfect little hole in the wall discovery! We have been to Layla's several times now and have never been disappointed! Gyro sandwich, gyro plate, gyro pizza, gyro calzone, lentil soup and hummus are all things that we've tried and loved! The Greek salad was not terrible but not as good as I expected, based on how great their other food is.. Also, this place is realllly inexpensive! I dont think we have ever left there spending more than $25!

My friend and I were driving cross country from NYC to California and wanted delicious vegetarian fare. We came to this place on a Sunday afternoon and loved the delicious rice, tzatziki, falafel and veggies. A very tasty place... would definitely go there again when I'm in Little Rock!

A hidden gem....don't let the strip mall location and very basic decor fool you....the food and service are fantastic. The baba ganoush and the hummus were probably the best we've ever had, the spanakopita was excellent, and the gyro meat and chicken were outstanding. They even had hot sweet minty tea. We were going to have dessert but the portions were so big, we were stuffed.

I recently visited the Conway location that just opened. It was almost empty except for a couple of other tables but it was just after the lunch rush. I ordered a roasted garlic and veggie pizza--it was a fairly large for the price and really cheesy! It was delicious, however I wish it had a little less olive oil on it. I hope this place stays around Conway because it is really good food for an extremely reasonable price.

  • Jeff P.

This was just an average Mediterranean place, in my opinion. The kofta was ok. The lentil soup was just ok. Service...eh. But, what really frosts my cookies is dry baklava. Dry? I need my baklava saturated and dripping with honey. Otherwise, why have dry, bland nuts and dough?

LOVE Layla's...I've been there twice now; once for seated dining and once for an impromptu takeaway order. both times the service has been GREAT...in fact, with last night's takeaway, the place was packed, two people had an order for about eight different people (and they had no idea what was ordered...) and one of the servers still made sure every person who walked in was greeted, checked on their needs and let me know that I could actually buy their in-house hummus, baba ganoush and tabbouleh salads to go in bulk...I always order the hummus (with extra pita) and either a gyro salad or gyro sandwich. Tasty, fast and the turkish coffee ROCKS. My only only grouse is using styrofoam...which is apparently still quite ubiquitous in LIT...other than that, I love the place enough that I seriously thought about inquiring about their "help wanted" sign...if they were that good and the food was that tasty while short-staffed, I cannot imagine what the full staffing do...Yeah, Layla!

Went to the location on Hwy 10. The atmosphere could be better I think. An outdoor patio and some more lighting would have made it nicer. BUT I am a big fan of their gyro sandwich and more recently the gyro calzone. The calzone is similar to the sandwich, but is cheesier and toasted. The gryo inside is chopped up so you get a yummy mixture of cheese, onion, sauce, and gyro. The hummus is delicious as well. They serve their pita bread in triangle cuts and are lightly seasoned that makes eating hummus even more addicting. OH so good!

Glad to see a hole in the wall like this doing good business in a place like Little Rock. I will have to give it another try as this "chicken shwarma" is not authentic. It is chunks of chicken with a savory sauce on it. It never saw a spit!

layla's rocks my face off! i never remember to check in here on yelp but i eat at layla's all the time. prices are stupid low & the food is stupid good. about the only place in town with a legit "meat cone". gyros are loaded up and only like $5. another fav is gyro meat & chicken shwarma pizza with red sauce. the burger is really good and is loaded up with parsley, served on a pita with hummus. the babaghanoush is tasty tasty tasty. calzones are rockin'. great place to get take out b/c lunch is pretty busy. my ONLY complaint is that in the past year they have really changed their red sauce. it used to be amazing! was full of fresh basil, fresh tomatoes and had a nice consistency. for the past year it has been really watered down and not very good. kind of disappointed.

One of my favorite places to eat. The food is very good, the owner is extremely nice. This place has the BEST hummus I have ever eaten. I love the Greek Salad with Gyro meat. Layla's is a great little restaurant tucked away in the corner of a shopping center off Rodney Parham. Easy to miss, but it's the best kept secret in town.

This is THE BEST PLACE for Greek food in Little Rock! They make the best Hummus in Little Rock, and the prices are "too low" for the quality and quantity of food! For a real treat, linger there 'till closing time and watch as the owner and his extended family arrive and have a feast! If you're there during that time they treat you as if you one of their own.

Very delicious! The hummas has such flavor, and the gryo was the best in town!!

One of my fav cheap eats in Little Rock. The gyro calzone is packed with gyro meat and for $7 it can almost feed two. Staff is nice and always welcoming but because its a relatively new/small establishment, the attention might not always be there if they're busy. BUT the food makes up for any negatives. Gyros are juicy and tender and the onions are a great touch. I eat or take out about every couple of weeks to get my quasi-greek food fix. The atmosphere is diner-esque where the tables, chairs, and decor are simple but the music played gives it a somewhat ethic feel. I recommend this place to everyone open to simple Middle Eastern/Mediterranean.

  • Bobby G.

One of my favorite ethnic restaurants in Little Rock. I'm a sucker for a good Gyro and the quality at Layla's is better than most of the places I tried in Greece. I must claim bias because I know the owner from when he worked with me in a previous career. With that said I've tried the sponikopita and it takes me back to the food my grandmother made when I was younger. The hummus and babaganush are both excellent. And the baklava with crushed pistachios is ridiculously good. Be sure to go with an appetite because they don't skimp on any dish. Also get there early or on a slow day because they have limited space and the wait staff was slow this past summer. But I think they've worked out the kinks because the last several times I've been it was quick and as usual delicious. Finally made a trip there for dinner with the wife the food and service was just as good as at lunch. Was crowded on Friday night at 6:30, but we got a 2 person table without a problem. Would have had a short wait if we'd had more people. Also notice that it is kid friendly cause there was a family with kids and they have highchairs available.

  • B. H.

Best gyros in little rock! Try the gyros calzone! A good example of the good of culinary mash-ups! The falafel was a bit drier than I'm used to and probably wouldn't get it again. We went on a Monday around 630pm and wasn't as crowed as the other reviews, but the dining area is small (~15 tables?) and can see how people would have to wait during the rush times.

Love this place. One of the truely authentic mediterranean types of food in the city. The schwarma plate, the gyros pizza and calzone, and the combination plate are all awesome. The hummis is good, but could use more pita bread. Sometimes this place gets busy and the food is a litle slow, but the price and food is "spot on". Parking is touch if it gets busy.

First i have to explain that as a militay transplant originating from San Diego CA, I have two methods for reviewing. Would i eat here if was home, or am i settling on this restaurant because im stationed in Arkansas. I came to the soul crushing conclusion several years back that it simply isnt realistic for me to carry the same expectations for pretty much anything food related in Arkansas. With that out of the way i will explain what it was i like about my experience at Layla's. First off they had goat . Very tasty goat at that ! I have in my last nearly 8 years of being stationed in Arkansas met my fair share of culinarily closed minded people. What kills me the most about these people is when restaurants cater to their dull and unadventurous pallates. most Greek/mediteranian joints here offer the ABC gyro/kabob options so when I stumbled upon a GOAT STEW on the menu I jumped at the opportunity. It was very satisfying. Nothing outrageous. It didnt blow my mind, but it was nice--scratch that--it was very comforting to have authentic food. I'ts always nice to recieve an aknowledging nod from the proprieter of the establishment for eating what they KNOW to be good food. For that alone i would return.

Best Mediterranean/Greek style food in Little Rock. Dad is from the Middle East area and we go there all the time. Their Gyro and Hummus beat everyone else in town both in terms of price and quality. Great lentil soup and pita bread as well. Very casual, dive-y restaurant but perfect for a cheap, extremely quick meal.

Excellent food served by super nice folks. As a vegetarian, falafel is one of my go-to's and Layla's serves some of the best I've had. Their pita is terrific and humus, tabouli and baba ganoush are exceptional as well without falling into the over-garlicked realm of day-long regret. Great spot!

  • Jenn X.

The food is bargain priced and good. The atmosphere is unappealing and while we were in the establishment we saw many flies. Bottom line the food is 4 out of 5, but the atmosphere and flies made it a 3.

The server from Jordan is beautiful, and also the food is really good. The goat platter was perfect. Super tender and heavenly seasoned. The gyro meat was also delicious, some of the best I've had. The Turkish coffee was delightful. Also, the server was incredibly attractive. 10/10.

Enjoy!!!

Delicious. Fresh lettuce in the Greek salad and light on the dressing so it's not overpowering. Hummus dip and gyro were tasty. A must try if in the area or driving by.

  • Sameena Z.

Food was good, received more than was expected (I got the gyro) the only drawback, after having eaten in both Bahrain and the UAE, was the tzatziki it was made with sour cream instead of yogurt as it is traditionally made.

  • Robyn H.

  • Andrew M.

  • Jonathan C.

Awesome as usual! Been coming here for several years and the food and service has always been fantastic. My wife and I usually split the combo plate (chicken schwarma and gyros) as they give you so much food. We also get the baba ganoush to start. Never been disappointed here.

This place is really nice with great food! The Mediterranean pasta is exceptionally good, I've had it several times, service is very nice also

Time after time, this small joint does it right. The flavors are great and selection variety wonderful. Breakout and try a house special...you will be happy that you did.

layla's rocks my face off! i never remember to check in here on yelp but i eat at layla's all the time. prices are stupid low & the food is stupid good. about the only place in town with a legit "meat cone". gyros are loaded up and only like $5. another fav is gyro meat & chicken shwarma pizza with red sauce. the burger is really good and is loaded up with parsley, served on a pita with hummus. the babaghanoush is tasty tasty tasty. calzones are rockin'. great place to get take out b/c lunch is pretty busy. my ONLY complaint is that in the past year they have really changed their red sauce. it used to be amazing! was full of fresh basil, fresh tomatoes and had a nice consistency. for the past year it has been really watered down and not very good. kind of disappointed.

Great spot!

The food is bargain priced and good. The atmosphere is unappealing and while we were in the establishment we saw many flies. Bottom line the food is 4 out of 5, but the atmosphere and flies made it a 3.
